I was preparing a devotional to share with my CMA guys and came across Luke 5:17-39. This is a story about Jesus teaching in a house and it was surrounded by religious law keepers and teachers. Two men brought their friend, who was unable to walk, on a bed to see Jesus so He can heal their friend. There was no way into the house so they cut a hole in the roof and let their friend down to Jesus. After this Jesus healed the man and forgave their sins. There is a lot to this passage but the part that stuck out to me was the two men did whatever it took to get their friend to Jesus. There was no easy way in so they made a way. They knew that Jesus could help him and they cared about their friend so much, they went to great lengths to get him to Jesus. Do we do that? It’s easy not to check on our friends spiritual life. It’s easy to just not mention Jesus around them because we know they aren’t a follower and we don’t want to upset them. But isn’t faith in Jesus the most important thing to have? Let’s not take the easy way to do things and let’s do what we need to do to bring our friends and family to Jesus.
