Recently someone asked me, “Pastor Dan ,Is The Bible really God talking to me?”
The Bible really is God’s Word. When we read the Bible God really does use the words and verses to speak His truth into our lives. Literally, however, the Bible is man’s word, from many sources, inspired by God (“God Breathed”). The Bible is the record of Gods followers through time. It is plenary, or complete in every respect.
Is the Bible perfect? The Bible itself claims to be “useful”, not perfect. The Bible is God’s Word to us, but it is not to be worshipped, as though it were perfection, itself. I do trust the Bible, but not infallibly. I completely trust the God of the Bible. The Bible is “useful”, in the way it was intended to be useful. I believe that God will always protect His Word and cause it to retain all of the truth about Him which He intends for us to know.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is USEFUL to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” 2 Timothy 3:16 NLT
God claims to be perfect.
God never said His Book is perfect.
God never said His church is perfect. ‘
God never said His people are perfect.
God never said that any of His creation was perfect.
He said that it was good.
I encourage you to read God’s Word. Find Him within its pages. Pursue your desire to know Him by abiding with His Spirit. Satisfy your desire to serve Him by fellowshipping with His people. Invite the God of the Bible to live within you and you will never be the same.
